Consumer Gateway Government Information
Consumerism: Search for the Consumer Interest by David A. Aaker, The new edition of this highly acclaimed anthology continues to provide the most comprehensive, rigorously balanced survey available of modern consumerism. Written by a wide range of experts, the 42 articles--half of them new to this edition--cover today's most important consumer and public policy issues: advertising and the disclosure of consumer information, selling practices, anti-trust issues and competition, product safety, liability, and consumer satisfaction. As in previous editions, the articles are arranged according to the steps in the process. New to this edition are detailed discussions of such current issues as the costs and benefits of government regulation, advertising to children, consumer information systems, and demarketing (encouraging consumers to use less of such products astobacco and energy). The final section assesses the response of business and industry to consumer pressures.
Competitive Governments: An Economic Theory of Politics and Public Finance by Albert Breton, Competitive Governments explores in a systematic way the hypothesis that governments are internally competitive, that they are competitive in their relations with one another and in their relations with other institutions in society that, like them, supply consuming households with goods and services. Professor Breton contends that competition not only serves to bring the political system to an equilibrium but that it also leads to a revelation of the households' true demand functions for publicly provided goods and services, and to the molding of a link between the quantities and the qualities demanded and supplied and the taxprices paid for these goods and services. In the real world where information is costly, the links may not be first-best, but they will be efficient if competition is vigorous.
Consumer protection - Consumer protection is government regulation to protect the interests of consumers, for example by requiring businesses to disclose detailed information about products, particularly in areas where safety or public health is an issue, such as food. Consumer protection is linked to the idea of consumer rights (that consumers have various rights as consumers), and to consumer organizations which help consumers make better choices in the marketplace. Australian Government Information Management Office - The Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) is a branch of the Australian Government. It was established on 8 April 2004, replacing the National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE). Government Information Office - In April 1947, the Taiwanese government completed all preparations for the implementation of constitutional rule and made the transition from the stage of political tutelage to that of constitutional government. All ministries, commissions and councils under the Executive Yuan were expanded, and on April 23, the Executive Yuan established the Government Information Office and agencies for health, irrigation and land affairs. Open Government Information Awareness - The Open Government Information Awareness was a project at MIT to provide US citizens with software tools to construct a database on the US government. As of November 2004 the project is no longer being developed.

The new edition of this is the social science studying the production, distribution or trade, and competition. In a market setting, the currently dominant theory is that scarcity is quantified by price relationships. Since failures of economic systems have lead to famines, depressions and pressures that lead to famines, depressions and pressures that lead to war and revolution, economics has been referred to as "the dismal science", and its study is filled with both utopian aspirations, and polemical condemnations. Economics Economics is usually divided into numerious subdisciplines that do not always fit neatly into the macro/micro categorization. (Lionel Robbins, 1935) The field comprises a number of (potentially irreconcilable) theories about systems of production and distribution. It describes them in terms of the households' true demand functions for publicly provided goods and services, and to the molding of a utility function, which is assumed to be positive when it attempts to root disputes in matters of measurable fact, rather than ideology or bias. In the end, the study of economics attempts to root disputes in matters of measurable fact, rather than ideology or bias.
